Fox Sparrow (By Roger Mayhorn)

The Kanawha -Charleston CBC 2012 took place on Saturday, December 15th.  Although overall bird activity was down this year, participants still managed to record 60 species, which is just above the historical average tally of 59.

Among the highlights of this year's count were record high counts of Northern Pintails (6) and Pied-billed Grebes (27).  Our counters also observed four Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, a Raven, a Hermit Thrush, a Fox
Sparrow and a pair of Pine Siskins.
